Research interests: natural plant and health
Professor Niu Fenglan has engaged in the research of natural plant and health. Natural plant and health is a broad science area. This field relates to many subjects, such as Chinese medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, molecular biology, and Health Sciences. In recent years, professor Niu has taken Trapa caltrop as a breakthrough point, to study the chemical material basis, medical effect and physiological mechanism of this natural plant. It’s the first time that she got monomer compound which is extract、separated and purified from water caltrop. Then she studied the effects and mechanisms of the monomer compounds on cancer cell metastasis, cell cycle progression and cell apoptosis, which provides references for developing new antiviral medicine of water caltropa and its monomer compound.The study has won three national invention patents, got Jilin Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2004, 2007, and 2008, and won the second prize of national medicine award for progress in science and technology in 2009. Professor Niu has published professional papers over 60 articles about this research in domestic and foreign journals.
